We arrived in Queenstown yesterday (Sunday) around noon. We picked up our car and had a short 5-10 minute drive to our hotel. This short drive felt like an hour. The steering wheel is on the right side of the car and they drive on the left side of the road here and have quite a few round-abouts. This likely will take awhile to get used to. Im sure we'll get the hang of it and be able to relax in the car by the time we need to head home to MN.
We were more than exhausted from all of the flying despite being able to sleep off and on. Each hour on the plane I'd wake up with a kink in either my neck or an ache in my knee. Being the nurse that I am, I had to don my Ted stockings so i didn't end up with a DVT. By the time we got off the plane i looked down at my bare feet and they looked like marshmallows...we had to take a picture of em cuz they looked ridiculous. We were hoping to be able to stay up but it wasn't working so we laid down for a nap at 2pm and slept overnight until this morning at 4am! Well, now we should be refreshed and ready to have fun around Queenstown.
We are staying at a very nice hotel by the lakeside and the landscape is just gorgeous. We can see the mountains, lake, and Queenstown gardens from our hotel. We plan on doing some hiking today and check out the town on foot. We expected a big city but it's sort of a quaint little town with beautiful scenery and lotsa shopping! The people here are all very nice and we ran into a gal at the airport who knows this area well and she gave us some great tips for our stay in this city. We will update again probably tonight with some photos.
